Lana Pudar, Bosnia’s best swimmer who has just returned to the country after the best achievement in her career – winning bronze medal at the Word Championship in Abu Dhabi, said that although she trained hard she was surprised with the results.

Speaking to SwimSwam website, the international swimming news organisation covering competitive swimming events, the 15-year-old athlete said she did not expect to be this good in the event.

“I knew I trained really well so I knew I could make a really good result. But, it is still a bit surprising that I won (medal),” she said.

“I am young and I didn’t expect to be this good,” she added.

Speaking about the training process, Pudar told SwimSwam that she was lucky to have a really good team with her. As she competes in the butterfly events including the 50, 100 and 200 metre races, the training programmes differ as well, she explained.

Upon the return to Bosnia Pudar told a press conference that the support she received during the competition meant a lot to her, and that the World Championship bronze medal was “the crown of the competition” to her.

She was one of seven athletes who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Olympic Games in Tokyo this year.
