Semsudin Mehmedovic, a member of Bosnia’s Parliament from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), called on the head of the European Union to impose sanctions on the leaders of the SNSD and the HDZ BiH, after the EU Special Representative, Johann Sattler, said those political parties obstructed efforts to pass laws necessary for the country to make progress on its path toward the EU.
Mehmedovic’s statement came after Sattler’s told N1 that the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) blocked the adoption of certain laws that are important for BiH’s EU integration.
Mehmedovic argued that Sattler “precisely and clearly determined culprits for BiH’s failure to join the EU” and that HDZ BiH leader, Dragan Covic, and SNSD leader, Milorad Dodik, should thus be sanctioned.
“It would be logical for the EU to impose sanctions on HDZ BiH and SNSD after you publicly said that those parties blocked European laws, which all of us who know the situation in BiH agree on. Enough of the EU dancing around with pro-Russian forces in BiH. Enough of Sattler’s dance with Russian Balkan demons”, Mehmedovic stated.
He argued that “if the EU and its countries had imposed sanctions on Covic and Dodik at the end of last year, everything would have been different.”
