The nomination of Michael Murphy for the posting of new US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina has been sent to the Senate for confirmation, the White House confirmed on Tuesday.

Last week, US President Joe Biden announced the nomination along with six others for what were said to be “the key roles”, and in order to have the procedure of appointment complete, it has to be confirmed by the Senate.

Murphy currently serves as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and oversees European security including NATO, the OSCE, conventional arms control, and Arctic security policy, as well as bilateral relations with the Northern European and Baltic countries.
