Geoffrey Nice: Verdict in Mladic case will to some extent close door on history

Slatka-Tajna.Eu

Geoffrey Nice, the former prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY), said in an interview for N1 ahead of the final ruling in the trial of Bosnian Serb wartime general Ratko Mladic, scheduled for next week, it is going to be a very important one and will “to some extent close the door on history.”

Nice argued that the wars of the former Yugoslavia are already history and nobody is really too interested in that, adding that the final judgment in the trial of Ratko Mladic will probably not draw too much media attention.

However, he also said, if Mladic is acquitted of genocide charges, that would be “startling.”

Nice also spoke about the responsibility of other countries, about the revision of the judgment in the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia, and other related topics. Watch the full interview in the video below.
